A.27.R - CLOSE AIR SUPPORT (CAS) OPERATIONS IN SUPPORT OF AN EUBG OPERATION.
The EUBG may be called upon to intervene in a wide variety of military operations.
|In most cases, the ability to co-ordinate the activities of the Land and Air Components and the use of effective CAS, will be crucial for the success of its mission. CAS is provided by aircrafts and armed helicopters and it can be used by the EUBG in both offensive and defensive operations.
The EUBG in order to be able to provide effective CAS to its troops, it needs to have the necessary C2 structure. Training should include CAS requests (preplanned and immediate), airspace management and FACs terminal guidance.
G.29.R - FORCE PROTECTION FOR EU BG OPERATIONS.
The study covers all activities of EU BG during operations in a land-environment on tactical level. Firstly the study analyzes the study T.37.R in order to obtain the main tasks and the key elements. Secondly consider the Force Protection Model and her impact on the command and control process. Moreover this study takes into account all the scenarios given in T.37.R and determines, for every scenario, the required Force Protection capabilities needed. In this way the study should be a valuable tool for the EU BG Commander in the planning and in the conduct of EU BG operations. Finally states required recommendations for future Force Protection materiel developments.
G.28.R - CBRN - EOD RISK MANAGEMENT TOOL FOR THE INCIDENT COMMANDER WITHIN AN EU BG OPERATION
The study is directed to the IC as a “tool” in the form of a “check list” to better coordinate the activities of CBRN and EOD teams/units in case of intervention and was developed and tailored to EU BG operations. The study describes both CBRN and EOD threats, and identifies an Incident Management process to support the Incident Commander to take appropriate decisions to properly manage the threat. In it have been developed all available procedures to be adopted by the Incident Commander on site. The study delivers flexible solutions to a variety of situations, identifying the necessity to tailor assets, equipment and course of action at the tactical level. This study is a “live document”, to be updated and upgraded on the basis of Lessons Learned from future exercises and operations. The study concludes with the recommendation that the custodianship of the document is assigned to the EDA PT CBRN EOD.
